Rama Tandon has been a Special Educator and a Dyslexia Therapist since 2005 at Vasant Valley School, New Delhi. She works in the SEN department of the school and teaches a ‘whole language’ curriculum, which covers all aspects of communication: receptive and expressive language, decoding social cues and understanding emotions. Behavior modiﬁcation, problem solving skills and functional living skills are included to help children with special needs become contributing members of the community.
She is also a specialist in remediation of Dyslexia and works with children in mainstream classes, to help them not just with reading, writing and spelling but also in building their self-esteem. She conducts teacher training programmes to empower mainstream teachers in understanding and teaching children with Dyslexia and Learning Difficulties.
She has done her Masters in Commerce and Masters of Arts in Psychology and is a CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist). She is a member of the Maharashtra Dyslexia Association and ALTA (Academic Language Therapy Association, USA) and International Dyslexia Association and has travelled widely to attend Conferences abroad and in India.
Participated as one of the speakers, at Teach For India , inspirED, annual international education conference in Feb 2013 and India’s only exclusively education-based forum .
